career academy

Our 9th and 10th graders were given a chance to attend the Career Academy on April 30, 2025 at the Charleston Coliseum. Over 55 organizations set up booths so the students could stop by and learn all about the careers at those organizations. Construction, accounting, law firms, architects, insurance, manufacturing, engineering, medical, to name a few fields that were there. Plenty of free items were given away at the booths. Then the keynote presentation was given by the BUG CHICKS. One of the Bug Chicks attended Marshall University and has visited the Rainforest and Africa on numerous occasions to study bugs. They use their knowledge to teach students about bugs and apply that insight of ourselves and the world around us. A live tarantula was on stage and found out they can live for 35 years! It was very entertcareer academycareer academycareer academycareer academycareer academycareer academyaining for some but squeamish for others, lol. Free lunch was provided and a drawing for prizes was held. Congratulations to our very own Hannan High prize winners: Emelyn Kirk - won a drone; Blair Walker won a set of Apple Air Pods; and Natilee Bishop won a Nintendo Switch. Some of the other schools in attendance were: Man High; Sherman High; Lincoln Co High; Scott High; Point Pleasant High; Spring Valley High to name a few. So, as you can tell, the Coliseum was packed full of 9th and 10th graders from all over the state. Our kids had a blast!
