drug free all stars

The gymnasium was full of cheering fans for the home team, Hannan Drug Free Wildcats, the team made up of teachers and students. This exhibition game took place against the Drug Free All Stars basketball team. The Drug Free All Stars (DFAS) is made up of Mercer County Community members who travel to schools nationwide to deliver positive message about having the power to change. County Commissioner Rick Handley was able to watch the game as well. . The court action was packed full of 3 pointers made by both teams. To keep the positive energy going, student bystanders became involved. Brooke Ashworth had the opportunity to toss the jump ball to start the game. During other breaks, students raced to "dress as an all star, by putting on shorts, shoes, shirt, jersey and then complete a layup. Blair Walker won that competition. Later, Walker Mount was pulled from the crowd to dance; handle the ball, and bounce it off his head and hindquarters. Walker got to play in part of the game as a guard for the DFAS. Then 20 student volunteers formed 2 separate lines to have a race who could dribble the ball down court and back. The basketball game finally concluded with a win by the DFAS of a score of 82 to 78. Hannan would like to thank Mason County Prevention Coalition who sponsored the game.
