Here's a little bit more information on G.E.
G.E. McCabe is a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, WV with degrees in Business Management and Police Science.
He has over 37 years of public safety experience of which nearly 30 years in law enforcement.
He retired at the rank of Captain from the West Virginia State Police with 25 years of service. After retiring from the WV State Police, Mr. McCabe worked for the WV Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as the WV Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) and has been recognized by the US Homeland Security Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) and the National Governor’s Association (NGA) as a subject matter expert in interoperable communications and technologies.
Mr. McCabe then went to work for the WV Legislature’s Commission on Special Investigations for a couple years, before returning to the WV Emergency Management Division where Governor Jim Justice appointed Mr. McCabe as the Executive Director of the Emergency Management Division in 2021.
Mr. McCabe retired as the Executive Director in December of 2025. Mr. McCabe has a long list of specialized training in public safety courses to include the FBI Instructor Development course, WV State Police Command School, Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, Public Safety Project Management, Executive Development, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Supervising the Problem Solver, Cyber Investigations, National Incident Management System (NIMS), and All Hazards Communications Unit Leader.
Mr. McCabe has dedicated his career to serving the citizens of West Virginia and working with the first responders, emergency managers and governmental leaders to enhance public safety locally, regionally, and nationally.
