Hannan Band had a Guest Speaker today!
Via Zoom, Jayce Townsend, BFA was the guest speaker today for the Hannan Band. Jayce graduated from Marshall and performed in all of Marshall top ensembles.
Our band students had the incredible opportunity to learn from this talented guest speaker specializing in music composition. As a member of Drum Corps International and a graduate student pursuing a master's degree, he shared valuable insight into both performance and creative process behind music.
The students learned the Number One Rule: Listen to music that you enjoy as frequently as possible. They also learned how music connected with his conscious and how composition can bring musical ideas to life.
Jayce also took the time to answer thoughtful questions from the students and gave practical ways to pursue an income and careers as a composer.
Jayce definitely inspired the next generation of musicians and composers!
