Attn: Parents of Seniors.
This is a list of helpful items to have if you attend the FAFSA workshop.
To complete the FAFSA, you will need:
• Your Social Security Number or your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
• A StudentAid.gov account username and password to log in to StudentAid.gov and start the FAFSA form electronically (previously called FSA ID).
If you are a dependent student, you will also need your parent(s) email.

Parents (aka contributors) attending this workshop without the student need to be sure the student has created their own studentaid.gov account and must have the email the student used to create the account. The FAFSA does allow the Parent (contributor) to begin the FAFSA and complete the contributor portion, but only if the student has an account.
It may also be helpful (but is not required) to have the following information with you for completing the FAFSA:
• Your 2024 federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned.
• Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
• Records of child support received in the last calendar year.

Holidays can be stressful but self-care and stress reduction are possible during the holidays.
Last Week's Tip. Practice Gratitude.
Tip # 2.
Acknowledge your feelings.
Every feeling you experience is valid. You may experience opposite feelings like grief and joy and that's ok. You may find it helpful to write down your feelings in a journal or share them with someone you trust.

Attendance Matters!
Hannan's 3 Month Attendance rate was 95%!!! Woo-hoo!
The County rate was 94 % and all 3 High Schools are at 95 % rate!
We are so proud of our students! Keep up the good work!

Now we just need to work on those students who are chronically absent so I'll be reaching out to the parents to see what we can do to help find a solution.

Mental Health Mondays
Over the next several weeks, I'll be posting different tips on Mental Health and the Holidays: Tips for Self Care
Holidays can be filled with joy and friends and family. For others, it can bring increased stress and worsen physical and mental health conditions.
Tip # 1. Practice Gratitude.
Research shows that those who practice gratitude not only reduce their stress levels but also feel less pain, get better sleep, have stronger immune systems, experience healthier relationships, and perform better professionally. Gratitude has also been shown to motivate people to make healthier food choices. Gratitude can be practiced in a variety of ways.

Create a “gratitude jar”—When you feel gratitude, write that experience down on a piece of paper and place it in the jar. Each month, pull out a few experiences to read and maybe share with others.

Start a gratitude journal—every day write down at least 1 thing you were grateful for that day. It could be as simple as a beautiful flower, someone who smiled at you, or even getting out of bed.
