Attn Seniors and Senior Parents/Guardians. We would like to do a photo slideshow of the graduating seniors during graduation ceremony. So please submit baby / toddler; middle school and senior photos to millicent.kimble@k12.wv.us so we can create a slide presentation. We would love to have any old kindergarten - 5 th grade class pictures as well or groups of seniors at birthday parties, etc. Be sure to put the name(s) on the back of the photo if you submit the original to the school so we can return it to you. If emailing the photos, be sure to identify who is in the photo so we can get it right. These will be used for the yearbook too. Thanks!
MARCH MADNESS starts today. We are having an attendance contest between the grades. Attendance must be at 95% in order to qualify for the celebration that will take place the last day before spring break, April 17th. The higher your grades' attendance rate the more celebrations you will receive.

Mountaineer Challenge Academy will be here tomorrow during both PRIDE classes to discuss their program and assist with applications. The recruiter will be set up in the satellite office. MCA is a program you can earn your high school diploma in 22 weeks but you must be 16 years old when the program begins to be eligible.

7th, 8th , 9th Grade Parents. Be sure to sign your child up for TEEN INSTITUTE. Possible topics include mental health issues; suicide prevention; cyberbullying; sexting; substance use prevention. Applications are in the office and due by March 10th. Plenty of swag to take home; pizza for lunch; and possibly a t shirt.

Scholarships are being uploaded to the website daily (located under Students if you click on the menu button). Make sure you are checking and filling those out. If you need transcripts, grades, GPA, etc., please see Ms. Nicole, the school counselor. Some deadlines are coming up so make sure you get those in.
Free Graduation Party for Seniors at Krodel Park on June 2, 2025. Each graduating student can invite up to 8 people. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. If you don't have a senior picture, you can have a free senior picture completed. Or you can have a free family picture. There will be music and a splash pad. This graduation party is for seniors at Hannan; Pt Pleasant and Wahama High Schools. Please contact judith.pauley@k12.wv..us so your invitation and rsvp can be sent to you.
Don't forget FAFSA workshop this afternoon, Monday Feb 24th. Pizza will be provided. We will be here from 4 pm to 6 pm. Also, since we have missed so many days of school, we are combining the Field Trip to Marshall with the 9th, 10th and 11th graders. The Marshall campus visit Feb 26th is cancelled and rescheduled for Friday, April 11th.
From Dr. Carlisle: Midterm grades will be finalized Monday and then sent home with students on Tuesday.
Several positives to share.
Excited to announce that any day there will be cell phone boosters put in the Hannan area, so soon you will have good cell service out there. Thanks to the work of the county commission on that. We will need to revamp our cell phone policy at school and that will be announced soon.
Thanks to APG for their $1000 dollar donation to the baseball team towards their new uniforms, and another $1000 dollars to our new video Marquee board for out front of school.

I picked up a $7000 check today, from the Claflin Foundation for instruments for the band program.

The games tonight have been canceled and rescheduled for Saturday, 2/22. We will be rescheduling cheer buddies for Saturday, 2/22 @ 12:00-2:00. We will be meeting in the gymnasium. The MS boys will play at 2:00 and the varsity boys will play 3:30. Cheer buddies will perform at halftime of the varsity game.

Attn Seniors and parents/guardians: FAFSA Workshop NEW DATE!! The rescheduled FAFSA workshop will be February 24th from 4 pm to 6 pm. If you can't be there right at 4:00 pm, no problem. We will be there until 6:00 pm. Pizza will be provided so don't worry about dinner that night! Also, at 1:00 pm on the 24th, we will have someone from the Higher Education Policy Commission help the students fill out the PROMISE scholarship.

Reminder, to volunteer for any activity at any Mason County School, you must be a board approved volunteer. To become a volunteer at Hannan, you must fill out a volunteer form for Dr. Carlisle to approve, and then he will forward it to the board for final approval. Volunteer forms are available at school, or please see attached.
